I can't even begin to describe to you all just how excited Nick and I are to be able to have another baby!!! This last year has been such a roller coaster and to get the chance to be parents again is a dream come true! For those of you who haven't read Nick's blog post from yesterday and already know that he "stole my thunder," I just want to quickly share how this baby is truly a MIRACLE!!
When Nick had cancer the first time, they didn't have him sperm bank because he was so young, and the chance of getting testicular cancer for the second time in 5 years is only 2%. And when we were able to conceive Owen naturally, we, along with his Dr's didn't think anything more of it. So by the time he found out how agressive this last type of cancer was, the tumor had already killed or demobilized the majority of this sperm. His surgeon told him a week before his surgery that we should just accept that we wouldn't be able to have any more of our own children, and basically move on. This was not an option for us, so Nick went up to the fertility specialists at OHSU and was able to do some "depositing" before his surgery. Turns out that his numbers weren't very good, but we still had a shot, although very low.
So after many months of tracking my ovulation and it not falling on a national holiday- we went in and did an IUI- intra uterine insemination. The endocrinologist up there who is absolutely an amazing and patient man, told us that they like to see no less than 20 million sperm in a sample for a typical pregnancy to take place, and that we only had 750,000 to work with. For those of you who aren't math people, that's more than 20x's less than average we were working with. So for those 12 days that we had to wait, I kept telling myself that, "it only takes one good one!" Looks like Nick's little guys know how to swim!!
With all of that said, I am 13 weeks along already and starting my second trimester as of today. My official- but still estimated due date is September 24. Unlike my pregnancy with Owen where I was slightly nauseous for a few weeks, I have been constantly battling severe nausea and lets just say, more throwing up than I ever anticipated. But before doing the IUI, I vowed that even if I was sick every day, that I would try not to complain as I soooooo wanted this to work.
Nick has been such a trooper making dinner and doing other "domestic" things to help me out. I am so grateful for him and all his lov, and am so happy to be able to continue growing our little family. Love you, Babe!

Wow...something fun to read after making John & Aubrey's lunch before bed. :) For everyone that told me being sick during pregnancy is a good thing...well, it's just not very effective. What "I" will say is that it will thankfully pass and one day be gone. Atleast like you stated, it's for a wonderful miracle that you'll be able to eventually hold and love. We're so excited for you guys and can't wait to see you all this next Christmas!
Congratulations!!! I can't even begin to imagine everything you guys have been through. I am so happy for you! I hope you start feeling better soon... must be a girl if you're feeling that sick;) You'll start feeling better soon! Take care.

Congrats!! What a wonderful miracle! I am so excited for you guys! I hope the sickness subsides, but at least you've got a great attitude. And I do wonder if that means it will be a little girl!? Either way, SOOO exciting!!!
I am so excited for you guys! Congrats! I hope the sickness ends soon. I was sick for the first time with this one and now I can really sympathize.
